Currently working as Senior Professor & HOD Library and Information Science at University of Delhi. Prior to joining the Department in 1998 served at IIT Delhi for more than seven years as Assistant Librarian. He is a learned academician, prolific writer, excellent orator and multifaceted personality has earned dual Ph.Ds and distinguished professional earned accolades for his subject expertise. He is credited for contributing 18 books, 12 edited books, over 170 research papers/articles published in peer reviewed international journals, editorial books, conference proceedings, etc.

Prof. Bhatt was the Editor of a reputed Journal entitled, ‘Journal of Library and Information Science’ of the Department of Library and Information Science, University of Delhi for three years during his tenure as HOD. In addition, he has had delivered more than 100 invited talks, key note address, lectures and chaired considerable number conference sessions of national and international conferences along with holding high positions in board of studies, curriculum development committees, UGC-NET workshops, Selection Committees, etc. He supervised 8 PhDs, 20 M. Phil and over 150 MLISc Projects. For his outstanding contribution in the field of Library and Information Science, Special Library Association (SLA-Asian Chapter)- Best Teacher Award- 2019, SPL- Best Library Teacher Award -2019 and DLA-Shanta Vashiht Outstanding Leadership Library Award- 2021
